Self-Forgiveness and Ho’oponopono

When you’ve been in an abusive, narcissistic or toxic relationship you’re bombarded with many thoughts and feelings, often conflicting.

Most of the time those thoughts are not helpful.

You judge and criticize yourself. You doubt and question yourself.

You often feel shame.

Even if you’ve been out of the relationship for a while, these thoughts and feelings can still surface.

That’s why I’m offering to you a path to self-forgiveness so you can stop doubting yourself and feeling “less than.”

The more I practiced forgiving myself, the more I was able to accept the past, experience joy, and move forward to create the life I desired. Without guilt!

Most often we are told we need to forgive the other person.  I found that when you’ve experienced abuse, forgiving the other person is very challenging, (not that you’re required or should do that.)

It takes a lot of personal work first.

For YOUR healing journey, for YOUR self-development, for YOUR

life, I recommend you spend more time on forgiving yourself first.

This is showing yourself self-compassion and self-kindness.

Then you can open to forgiving others.

For this self-forgiveness practice, I explain and share the 4 powerful phrases of the Hawaiian “prayer” Ho’oponopono:

  • I am sorry.
  • Please forgive me.
  • I love you.
  • I thank you.

Then you’re guided to repeat after me the phrases 108 times, which is a considered a sacred number, allowing for expansion (opening chakras), acceptance and alignment of mind, body and soul within yourself.

The repetitions only last 15-20 minutes, but you can do it 1 time, 5 times, or the full time. There is no rule or “shoulds.”  You decide what fits for you.

I hope you enjoy this.
