Can You Receive? Part 2

Spread the love

Review your notes from the first exercise if you have difficulty receiving.

This week practice these 3 steps:

Step 1:

Notice how you feel when someone gives you…

A small gift.

An expensive gift.

When it’s from someone intimate to you.

When it’s from a friend.

When it’s from a family member.

From a child.

What did you say to them?

Jot down your thoughts and feelings.

Step 2:

Notice how you feel when someone gives you a compliment.

When it’s from someone intimate to you.

From a friend.

From a family member.

From a child.

From a stranger.

What did you say to them? What was your body language like?

Could you say, “Thank you!” feeling fully deserving?

Were your feelings and reactions different depending on the person giving it?

Jot down your thoughts and feelings.

Step 3

Challenge Yourself.

Were you able to fully embrace and accept with grace the gift or compliment? If yes, why?

If no, what came up for you?

Did you have feelings of not deserving? Unworthiness? If so, why?

Jot down your thoughts and feelings.

If you felt uncomfortable or dismissed a compliment, challenge yourself to say thank you with grace the next time.

Each time you catch yourself, you’ll be glad you did.

Remember when you were on the giving end?

Did you think your gift or compliment were not worthwhile or untrue?

Of course, not. So let’s not insult the person giving to you.

Now keep practicing the joy of receiving. Because you do deserve it!
